CONIL DE LA FRONTERA

Get lost and get lucky. 30 days in Conil through a 50mm lens. A story in black and white. More images coming soon…..

Because of the law over here I'm not aloud to publish the portraits and streetphotographs of the people I photographed up close.

Conil is a beautiful, shining bright village along the Andalucian coast with narrow streets and a light I can't put into words. Conil is truely a photographers dream, especially for black and white photography.

The whole town is painted in white so throughout the day the shadows and contrast in the streets changes for you all the time for a new image.

Every town has its own melodies the trick is to learn how to dance with it. In the summer the streets in Conil are packed with thousands of tourists but now it is winter and the streets are almost empty, which I prefer.

My first visit to Conil was two years ago. I fell in love with the place so this time we decided to stay longer. A week of holiday is not enough to get the know a town and its people. Conil has over 3000 years of history so there’s plenty of culture around. I wish we could stay longer.

I walk the streets from sunrise to sunset only using my Fujifilm XT2 with a 35mm prime lens, photographing with the squaremode. All in black and white.

The colour of white has never been so important to me as with this project. Conil is a blank canvas of freedom do get creative with through the camera.

If you like the beach the Conil is definitely the place to go. Fishing, surfing, sunsets and long walk along the beach.

I tried to find my favorite streets and return during different times of the day and weather to see if there was something new to discover.

The lifestyle and people here are alot more mellow than in places like Madrid and Valencia which suits me fine.

This project have made me think alot more about composition, due to it's narrow streets the squareformat and my 50mm lens.

There's always something to photograph even on the less creative days.
