Åkerfalk aventyr REVIEW

Waterfall adventures

Aventyr, Sweden By Åkerfalk

New watch, new stories to create and memories to look back at in the future.

This watch was built to take a beating and so far it has survived all of my adventures. From surfing heavy waves on the outer reef, fishing trips to waterfall hunting in the jungle and snorkling with mantarays. With a different style and look the watch has turned some heads from watch enthusiasts as well.
I switched out the original wrist strap to a rubber version to make it more suitable for surfing and after two months of heavy use there's still not a scratch on the watch. The rubber wristband had a few scratches from rock climbing and hitting the coral reefs while surfing but that was expected.

We had a few hours in the early morning to ourselves in the jungle. We also had a private driver waiting for us miles away so the Åkerfalk watch was a must since I don’t travel with a phone and needed to keep the time. This morning we found seven waterfalls and experienced nature I only thought existed in dreams. I had a swim in tree of the waterfalls.

A few of the waterfalls demanded some crawling over slippery rocks

On my way to the outer reefs. We went out more than ten times with the same captian and boat. Most of the time at 05.20 in the morning. This day we had our last surf of the trip.

water time, fun time

I really enjoy the design of the 24-Hour dial without seconds. I don't need seconds when I'm out exploring. As long as the minutes and hours continue to move I’ll be in time for whatever awaits. The watch don’t feel too heavy and looks smaller than some of the other 42mm watches I’ve tried. It also looks really solid and right at home in the wild. In the future I hope Åkerfalk will release a classy Field watch.

Surfing with my Åkerfalk

I had the best snorkeling of my life in Indonesia and swam with seasnakes, Clownfish, Mantarays, Putterfish and dussins of colorful fish I don’t know the name of. The coral was impressive and full of life. I went snorkeling at 5 different locations. The watch did great and looked great under water.

Future adventures

The Åkerfalk aventyr. will be the watch I put on my wrist everytime there’s an adventure around the corner. I just wish I could have had it years ago. Now I need a Åkerfalk dresswatch for everyday life as a photographer and they got a few nice models I’m interested in, they are at the moment unfortunately sold out.

The upcoming year will contain everything from canoe trips, fjord hikes, nightswimming and more surfing. Let’s hope this watch can continue to shine in rough situations. From the tropics to the Nordic winter.

Conclusion

I can highly recommend this watch especially for surfers and explorers who’s not afraid of getting dirty and fight the elements.

PLUS +++++

  • Solid build. I have put it through tough tests and it has come out flying

  • Great price!

  • A different look from other watches makes it stand out

  • The more I use it the more I like it

Minus -

  • I like leather and rubber wristbands due to my lifestyle. I changed the size twize of the original strap but it was either too hard or too loose. Stainless steel wristbands also get too hot in warm places which I visit many months of the year.

  • It was a bit hard to change the time on. From Sweden to Dubai to Indonesia I needed to change a the time a few times and it was hard to line it correctly. A GMT would have been awesome.
